Reading to Nee Nee
For my Sister, Linda
I am posting short podcast of me reading / talking to my grandson. These are specifically for my family members but ALL others are welcome to listen in.

Episode 7 out of order … but posted !!!
It has taken a couple of hours but I finally have a new podcast posted. Like the old quilt adage.... finished is better than perfect. Posted is better than left on my computer because I am never happy with the final results. This podcast I evaluate patterns and try to find aspects I like and dislike. I want to find elements that make patterns easier to understand, especially when working with new quilters. YOUR INPUT would be greatly appreciated.
I usually slaughtered name of these talented designers but Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr are rapidly becoming favorites. They have designed for home furnishing and also sell commissioned quilts. Their new book is QUILTS MADE MODERN ,it has contemporary designs the majority using solid and tone on tone fabrics. I love their lessons on color theory, fabric selections, construction methods. The main emphasis in their books is on design elements. I am learning a lot, which is important to me as I am drafting / designing more and more my own quilts using elements from other patterns and designs.

A 1/4 yard, a 1/4 yard… my kingdom for a 1/4 of a yard
I have been working on my quilt and I am sure I am short less than a quarter of a yard of fabric of the dark gold fabric...... WAAAAA WAAAAA WAAAAAA...... I only have two blocks left to sew together then it will be time to put in the final sashing. NO matter how I have tried I did not have enough of the dark gold fabric ( EESCO MAYWOOD STUDIO 513 SHADOW PLAY in 100% cotton (NOT FLANNEL) s - 16 )
Because the NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INVENTION. I have redesign the quilt color placement because I still have a lot of the light gold fabric. I am making some of the connecting sashing using the lighter gold fabric.
This picture shows the mock up of the block changes. I am substituting the light gold. I think this will strech out the dark gold I have left to finish the quilt. I still have to piece some of the blocks but my long armer said she could camouflage the area with quilting. I already have the large blocks made and NO I am not going to un-sew the blocks to substitute the light gold in the already sewn blocks. No I am not going to applique the light gold over the dark gold. That too was suggested by one of my friends. It is what it is and I am patting myself on the back because I am making LEMONADE OUT OF LEMONS.
( I DO LOVE CLICHES... THEY ARE SO ON TARGET! )
Stash Evaluation and some quilting / episode 5
Some show notes for episode 5. I will be updating them as I go along BUT I wanted to get this episode out.
Once again I have slaughtered this cute couple’s name, Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr. I tend to combine them into one name instead of a design team. Their new book is QUILTS MADE MODERN ,it has contemporary designs the majority using solid and tone on tone fabrics.

Update January 7th
*Hip to bee Square, inspiration for my quilt****LINK***
This is the pattern that inspired my quilt. The kaleidoscope mirror image blocks resulted in a different size block when I sewed the patches together so I had to re-size all the sashing strips.

Organizing Nonnie Quilting Dreams
I started Nonnie's Quilting Dreams initially on Word Press as a blog. When I finally decided I wanted to podcast I checked out all the pod-hosting services and choose Pod-Bean. This site allowed pod-casters to do a trial run. They give you a monthly bandwidth allowance that allowed you to post several short podcasts to test your wings. A pod-caster could continue to stay with-in the restrictions or upgrade to a paid service.
I will be reorganizing Pod-Bean and Word Press blogs so I do not duplicate post. Pod Bean will have the show notes and links to what is in the podcast. I am hoping to achieve a cleaner look to the blog.
Word Press will probably have commentary about quilt projects in progress and what ever else crosses my mind.
Initially posting pictures on Pod-Bean was difficult but I finally figured it out (I think) so pictures posted will be germain to the topic of the blog/ podcast.
Please, let me know if there are any topics you would like to discuss.... OTHERWISE, I will just ramble on my own.
